The Veterans Administration offers the Aid and Attendance program as part of an “Improved Pension” Benefit for our Nation’s Veterans. Oak Leaf Manor is pleased to continually inform our heroes about this frequently overlooked benefit. This Improved Pension provides assistance to war-time Veterans and surviving spouses who require the regular attendance of another person to assist in bathing, medication management, dressing and undressing, eating, and other ADL (activities of daily life). It can also include Veterans who are blind or who are patients in a personal care home or nursing home. This important benefit is unknown by many families with Veterans or surviving spouses who need additional support to help care for ailing parents or loved ones.
This is a “Pension Benefit” and IS NOT dependent upon service-related injuries for compensation. A qualifying Veteran who is single is eligible for up to $1,645 per month, while a surviving spouse is eligible for up to $1,150 per month. A Veteran who is married is eligible for up to $1,950 per month.*

Oak Leaf Manor is a proud sponsor and participant in the Thank a Vet program. The Thank a Vet discount program is a way for our community business leaders to express their gratitude and recognize the service and sacrifices made by our courageous veterans. Participating merchants agree to honor and reward our Lancaster County heroes by providing special discounts on purchases or services when presented with the Thank a Vet photo identification card. This program will provide a photo ID FREE OF CHARGE to Lancaster County veterans who have the DD-214 honorable discharge papers filed on record in the Lancaster County Recorder of Deeds Office. More information about the program and how to record your DD-214 can be found here at the Lancaster County Recorder of Deeds website.
